The effect of higher dimensions on relativistic cosmology.

The general consequences for relativistic cosmology of the Kaluza-Klein ansatz are studied. It is shown that the cosmological constant induced by the anisotropic compactification can be eliminated in cosmological models general enough to allow for vorticity.
