Mass and heat transfer between reacting particles and flow
Abstract
The study is concerned with heat and mass transfer toward the surface of reacting particles, droplets, and bubbles moving in a fluid or a gas. Efficient approximate analytical methods are developed for solving the corresponding stationary and nonstationary boundary value problems for large and small Peclet numbers. Mass transfer is investigated as a function of the particle shape, flow hydrodynamics, and chemical reaction kinetics. Attention is also given to problems related to convective mass and heat transfer in ordered systems of particles, droplets, and bubbles and to nonstationary diffusion toward the reacting surface.
