Receiver gain analysis speeds design process
Abstract
The dynamic urge and accuracy of a receiver is affected by the receiver gain. For this reason, an appropriate analysis of gain during the receiver's design phase will reduce the time required for gain adjustment during system integration, decrease the number of gain adjustment components, and provide for better selection of circuit components. The present article presents the description of a gain analysis technique which will accurately determine the optimum gain for maximum dynamic range and accuracy. In addition the receiver's dynamic range and accuracy will be determined along with the input power level response. The case of a general single-channel receiver is considered. However, the discussed design method can be applied to a variety of receiver types.
