New miniature beryllia circuit technology
Abstract
The development of monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMIC) makes it possible to obtain complex functions and efficient operation at low cost and with high reliability. A new beryllia hybrid technology, miniature beryllia circuit (MBC) has been developed with the objective to combine many of the advantages of the monolithic technology with the flexibility of hybrid technology. The MBC technology is more complex than a similar technology based on thick-film, discrete components and wrap-around ground. It permits, however, a much higher level of integration and lower parasitic construction. MBC technology was recently applied to the development of a general purpose transmit-receive (T/R) radar module which operates at Ku-band.
