Diagnostics of nonequilibrium states in molecular lasers
Abstract
Methods for diagnosing the populations of vibrational-rotational levels in the molecular systems CO2 and CO, which have been developed over the past ten years, are reviewed. Particular attention is given to obtaining the vibrational temperature of carbon dioxide molecules from measurements of the spectral distributions of the resonance absorption (gain) index of a probing CO2 laser and also from simultaneous measurements of the resonance absorption (gain) index at one of the lines and of emission intensity in the bands. The methods proposed here are illustrated by examples.
