The effect of phase transformations on transverse flow of a vapor-drop mixture past a plate
Abstract
Transverse flow of a vapor-drop mixture past a flat plate is investigated analytically for subsonic and supersonic flow velocities, with allowance made for drop fragmentation. It is shown that drop evaporation may have a strong effect on flow characteristics. In particular, it can lead to an increase of vapor pressure and density in the shock layer ahead of the plate and to increased detachment of the shock wave from the body.
