The stratification of an electron stream by an open field resonator
Abstract
The modulation of electron current density in a wideband electron beam by means of an open resonator field has been investigated theoretically. The spectral composition of convective flow at the exit of the modulator was calculated based on the stratification of the electron stream in the field of a standing wave resonator. Averaged values for the amplitude of the flow harmonic in a cross section of the beam were also obtained. It is shown that the stratification of the electron stream only partially attenuates the mean energy of the beam due to decreases in the frequency of the modulating signal.
