Effect of the incoherence of laser pulses on the characteristics of a time-domain CARS signal
Abstract
The characteristics of a time-domain CARS signal are calculated with allowance for the finite duration and incoherence of laser pulses used for the excitation and sounding of molecular oscillations of the medium. It is shown that, in the short-pulse mode, the shape and duration of the observed pulse response are determined only by the properties of the medium investigated, and do not depend on the coherence of the laser pulses. The energy of the pulse response decreases as the incoherence increases.
