A projection method for solving non-self-adjoint problems in the theory of waveguides
Abstract
A projection method for solving a class of non-self-adjoint boundary value problems in electrodynamics is proposed which is an extension of the incomplete Galerkin method to a complex space with a pseudo-scalar product. Based on projection relationships, an approximate solution is obtained in the form of a linear combination of complex functions that are orthogonal in a given space. The coefficients are determined by solving the corresponding boundary value problem for a system of ordinary differential equations.
