Reference-free ultrasonic thickness-meters
Abstract
The work examines the design principles of reference-free pulsed ultrasonic thickness-meters whose readings do not depend on the ultrasound propagation velocity in the measured articles. Particular emphasis is placed on the characteristics of the electroacoustic section of the thickness-meters, and the operation of thickness meters in the mode of the reference-free measurement of sound velocity in various materials is described. Ways to improve the design of reference-free echo-pulse thickness meters are considered.
