Relation between visibility and scattering particle of laser Doppler velocimeter
Abstract
The effects of visibility and the scattering properties of suspended particles on flow measurements using a laser Doppler velocimeter, have been investigated experimentally. Using fine wires as seeding particles, the relationship between visibility and the ratio of the diameter of fine wire to the fringe width was studied in detail. Estimates of the visibility for a cylindrical shape particle were compared with the experimental data and the results are discussed in detail. The wave forms of the output signals for two wires of the same diameter at a constant interference fringe interval are shown in the form of oscillographs.
