Tactile sensor design and tactile sensing on 3-D objects
Abstract
This article deals with the mechanism of the tactile sensor for extracting the features of an object's surface. First, the tactile proximity sensor is proposed by classifying the functions of the robotic sensor. Also, the touch understanding system is presented for the robotic system. It is shown that the tactile sensors play an important role in the touch understanding system. Second, the arrangement of sensor elements in the array are discussed by using the results consisting of sampling intervals for the finite stroke width of character images. Finally, the results of an experiment on a prototype tactile sensor for extracting the feature of local surface of an object are presented.
