Boundary element analysis of polarization holding fibers
Abstract
Boundary element equations for eigenvalue problems of a waveguide of arbitrary structure are formulated. The guided modes of the elliptical core optical fiber, which is the typical polarization holding optical fiber, is analyzed using the boundary element analysis. It is concluded that the method is highly accurate, easy to apply, and provides a highly stable solution.
