Broadband characteristics of bodies of revolution
Abstract
The analysis of a conical monopole antenna consisting of a body of revolution, by means of an extended moment method, is discussed. Studies are performed in order to find body shapes providing broadband characteristics. The input admittance is calculated for bodies of revolution and wire antennas with 4, 8, and 16 elements. It is shown that when the body of revolution is replaced with wire elements, about 16 elements are sufficient for duplicating the antenna characteristics. The theoretical and experimental results are compared and found to be in reasonably good agreement.
