Intermodulation performance of TV and sound channels simultaneously transmitted through a satellite transponder
Abstract
A closed-form expression is derived for the penalty resulting from the simultaneous transmission of one TV carrier and several SCPC sound carriers through a nonlinear transponder system. The transponder system is described by its amplitude nonlinearity and AM/PM conversion characteristics. The analysis takes into account the required video carrier-to-noise power ratio and the power in each sound carrier relative to the TV carrier.
