Measurement of electric and magnetic complex polarisabilities of electrically small obstacles at microwave frequencies
Abstract
A simple technique is proposed by which the electric and magnetic polarisabilities of electrically small objects may be measured at microwave frequencies. The object is placed in a short-circuited waveguide alternatively at the maxima of the electric and magnetic fields. The effect on the standing-wave pattern on the generator side of the object is used to deduce both the real and imaginary parts of the polarisabilities.
