The use of the Zenith-2 automated measuring system to solve certain problems of astrometry and astrophysics
Abstract
Zenith-2 was used to measure spectrograms obtained with the Pamir solar telescope, yielding an accuracy that is 1.2-1.5 times greater than that obtained with the visual measurement technique. The automated measurement of solar-granulation spectrograms makes possible a complete statistical analysis of the vertical velocity field at various levels of the solar atmosphere. The precision of trigonometric parallaxes obtained with the Zenith-2 is also improved.
