Thermodynamics of laser systems
Abstract
The "pump and decay" part of the equations of motion for lasers and laser-driven systems presently used in the literature violates the conservation of the system's entropy under symmetry operations commuting with the Hamiltonian. Thermodynamics yield alternative equations. The spectral lineshape predicted by thermodynamics is Gaussian.
