Calculation of the efficiency of plate cooling with the cooler outflow at an angle to the main flow with consideration of the stagnation zone
Abstract
In view of the efficiency of cooling turbine blades by the obstruction cooling method, a study is undertaken to determine the location of the reattachment point of a jet emerging at an angle to the plane stream parallel to the plate. In addition, dynamic characteristics of the jet are defined for a broad range of outflow parameters, and methods are presented for computing the boundary gas layer at large jet incidence angles (larger than 45 deg). The physical model presented predicts the efficiency of gas cooling with an accuracy sufficient for engineering purposes (error of no more than 20 percent).
