The dominant mode properties of open groove guide - An improved solution
Abstract
A new solution is presented for the propagation properties of the dominant mode in open, but nonradiating, groove guides. The complete transverse equivalent network for the groove guide is derived and used to obtain, via the transverse resonance condition, a dispersion relation for the propagation constant which is in simple closed form yet accurate over a wide range of geometric parameter values. Numerical results which verify the accuracy of the new theoretical results are presented.
