Model of rainfall-rate distribution for radio system design
Abstract
The results of model computations of the global cumulative rainfall-rare distribution for intensities above 2 mm/h at high and low rainfall rates are presented in graphs and briefly characterized. The two-parameter model of Moupfouma (1983) is modified by expressing both parameters as functions of the rate exceeded during 0.01 percent of the time, in line with the recommendations of CCIR for evaluating the availability of terrestrial and satellite radio links. The behavior of the model is compared with observational data from several hydrometeorological regions and found to give good agreement.
