Design architecture for a high performance Intelsat TDMA/DSI terminal
Abstract
The software and hardware designs for a TDMA terminal and a multidestinational DSI (MDSI) are discussed. A brief description of the capabilities and functions of the TDMA and MDSI system is presented. The TDMA hardware consists of three main subsystems: the IF subsystem, common logic equipment, and terrestrial interface ports; these subsystems and their buses are described. The MDSI interfaces, subsystems, and buses are explained. The hardware systems were developed to meet the requirements of the software and thereby reduce software and integration problems. The software of the TDMA and MDSI system was designed to be modular, to have minimum risk design to prevent real-time problems, and to have real-time monitoring of the hardware. The hierarchy and languages used in the software development are presented. The functions and components of the processors of the TDMA and MDSI system are described.
