A capacitively coupled RF-excited CW-HCN laser
Abstract
A new approach for CW high power generation using capacitively coupled RF excitation system is described. The method has been shown to be very effective for generating submillimeter wave output in the HCN laser. A CW output power of 260 mW at 337 microns was obtained using a tube about 1 m long and 55 mm in diameter. This value is believed to be the highest ever reported for a tube of this size.
