A method of analysis for heat pipe heat exchangers
Abstract
A method of analysis for the thermal performance of heat pipe heat exchangers based on the conductance model was developed in the present study. In the analysis the specific heat conductance of the heat pipe was obtained from a performance test of a single heat pipe described in the present paper and the well-known universal correlations were used to calculate the convective heat transfer coefficients in tube banks. A computer program based on the finite difference equations of the model was then developed to calculate the thermal performance of heat pipe heat exchanger. The analysis was finally validated by an experiment and shown to be applicable in engineering applications.
