A laminar swirled free-convection jet
Abstract
The problem of vertical motion of a swirled jet under the action of initial momentum and buoyancy forces, which allows the self-similar solution valid for the free-convection flow zone, is solved. The finding of the exact non-self-similar solution for both a vertical jet and a jet without allowance for the buoyancy forces is discussed. For moderately swirled jets, approximate non-self-similar solutions which show that the swirling of jets exhibits, as compared to a nonconvective jet, a weak effect on the flow and heat transfer in laminar buoyancy jets, are obtained.
