New methods of the mass and heat transfer theory. I - The method of asymptotic correction and the method of model equations and analogies
Abstract
Two novel approximate analytical methods for the investigation of heat and mass transfer problems are proposed: the method of asymptotic correction, and the method of model equations and analogies. These methods may be used to construct approximate engineering formulae in problems as diverse as those of chemical engineering, chemical mechanics, microkinetics, and hydrodynamics. In the second part of this paper, attention is given to convective mass and heat transfer and hydrodynamics problems. A comparison of the results obtained with a variety of specific cases for which exact and approximate formulae are available shows the good accuracy and broad possibilities of application for the methods presented.
