New endfire radiator
Abstract
A corrugated-surface pair (CSP) antenna has been constructed from sheet aluminum for light weight and tested in dipole measurements at 500, 750, and 1000 MHz. Half-power beamwidths (HPBWs) in the plane perpendicular to the corrugated surfaces were measured as 50, 31, and 25 degrees at 500, 750, and 1000 MHz, respectively. These HPBWs were 20-45 percent narrower than the HPBWs obtained for a polyrod antenna at the same frequencies, with corresponding increases in gain. Specifications and design diagrams of the CSP antenna are included.
