Fundamental surface-wave effects on microstrip antenna radiation
Abstract
The spectral domain approach is used to determine the influence of surface waves on the radiation efficiency of a rectangular patch antenna. The effects on the radiation patterns due to the dielectric truncation are computed and compared with experiment. The radiation pattern in the E-plane for the total electric field of a rectangular patch antenna with a truncated dielectric radius is shown.
