Prediction of slant-path rain crosspolarisation discrimination ratio and phase using dual-polarisation radar data
Abstract
By using simultaneous reflectivity data from a dual-linear polarization radar, rain-induced crosspolarization on an 11.6 GHz satellite slant path is successfully predicted, in both ratio and phase. No canting angle or spread of canting angle are considered, the tilt angle of the OTS polarization being the only angle taken into account. The results of the prediction technique applied to two events are given. It is shown that for the crosspolarization discrimination ratio and phase, the agreement between the measured and predicted values is good.
