New sensor for industrial metrology developed
Abstract
New developments in the field of industrial metrology are discussed. Rapid advancement in scientific fields is making processes and equipment of increasingly high precision necessary. As the speed of light and fixed reference point temperatures have been considered reliable constants of measurement standards. One method of harnessing such natural norms for technical use and thus for exceptionally high precision industrial metrological processes uses the wavelength of laser light as the basis for a new kind of sensor. This development makes it possible to input nonelectrical variables such as travel, force, mass and pressure directly to a computer.
