Determining the errors in measuring distances by ultrasonic echo-pulse flaw detectors
Abstract
A method of finding the measurement errors of ultrasonic instruments combining the advantages of electronic simulation with those of thickness measures is examined. This method which couples the time scale of an electronic thickness measurement model to that of the measuring instrument itself is applied to the depth meter in an ultrasonic depth echo-pulse flaw detector. Experimental data obtained by this method are compared to those yielded by the thickness measurements; the data show a close resemblance to each other.
