Pulsed, optically pumped gas-mixture FIR lasers
Abstract
With D2O-CH3I, D2O-CH3F, CH3I-CH3F and D2O-CH3I-CH3F gas mixtures as the active media of far infrared radiation (FIR) lasers, individual FIR laser lines emitted from component gases can be obtained from the same laser simply by tuning the pumping lines of a TEA-CO2 laser. The gas-mixture FIR laser is considered as a new and feasible scheme for producing multiwavelength output in FIR band from the same FIR laser. The results of using gas mixtures as lasing materials are discussed. Binary and tertiary gaseous mixtures of D2O-CH3I, D2O-CH3F, Ch3I-CH3F and D2O-CH2I-CH3F were studied.
