China reaches new level in minicomputer development
Abstract
Stability of electron trajectories in freeelectron lasers with an axial magnetic field is analyzed. The results show that in the case of noncyclotronresonance (omega sub 0 is not equal to kappa sub 0 Vsub2) (V=initial velocity) the trajectories are unstable if the condition omega sub 0  kappa sub 0 V sub 2) (2 omega sub omega)sq. = 1 is satisfied, while in the case of cyclotronresonance (omega sub c = kappa sub 0 V sub beta) the trajectories are always stable if the initial perpendicular velocities of electrons are small. Oscillation amplitudes of the parallel velocities of electrons depend on the ratio beta sub omega/beta sub 0. The smaller the ratio, the smaller the oscillation amplitudes.
