Application of spherical harmonics to the representation and calculation of the kinematic parameters in homogeneous anisotropic turbulence
Abstract
The study of the properties of scalar spherical harmonics and the matrix elements of corresponding rotations, in order to carry out a statistical model representation of a homogeneous anisotropic turbulence, is discussed. A parameterization of the anisotropy is proposed, using developments at the same degree in both physical and Fourier space. The spectral tensor of the two-point double-velocity correlations is also examined.
