Analysis of annular ring microstrip antenna using cavity model
Abstract
Analysis of an annular-ring microstrip antenna is presented. The antenna is modeled as a lossy resonant cavity characterized by lumped circuit elements. The value of these lumped elements is obtained from a knowledge of the self and mutual admittances between two radiating circular apertures and the energy stored within the volume of the cavity. A closed-form expression for the resonant frequency of the antenna operated in the TM(12) mode is given. The input impedance and radiation patterns of the antenna have been measured and found to agree with theoretical results.
