Directional beam formation on helical antennas
Abstract
The concept of the charge-double helix is used to construct a very simple spatiotemporal picture of the charge distribution on helical antennas. It is shown that the electric field lines on a real, finite helix as well as on a sheath helix are identically structured for the F(1) wave and the lines inside the main directional beam, and thus can cross at the head end of the real antenna without causing problems.
