High efficiency nanosecond miniature solid-state laser
Abstract
A new geometry is suggested for miniature solid-state laser systems. This novel oscillator-amplifier arrangement increases the efficiency of the miniature flash-lamp-pumped Q-switched NdP5O14 (NPP) laser by a factor of 2.5 over the single-oscillator arrangement. A special double-cylinder laser pumping cavity was designed and built with the aid of a computer. A computer model for evaluating the performance and optimization of the Q-switched laser and laser-amplifier systems was developed, and its application to the present experimental system is reported.
