Surface photometry of the Sculptor group galaxies : NGC 7793, NGC 247and NGC 300.
Abstract
Surface photometry for three Sd galaxies in the Sculptor Group is presented. Distance estimates of the galaxies are discussed, and the photometric observations and reduction techniques are described. The orientation parameters are derived from an analysis of the isophotal maps. The luminosity profiles of the galaxies are analyzed and their color distribution is examined. The color maps are used to construct red and blue pixel profiles. The gas content of the systems is considered, and the use of the light distribution as a tracer of the luminous mass components is addressed.
