Variability of emitting area during bursts from Serpens X-1.
Abstract
The authors have analyzed about 30 bursts from the source MXB 1837+05/Ser X-1. The data are grouped in one-second bins and they present the colour temperature and the flux measured near the earth in the energy range 1 - 20 keV (corrected for interstellar absorption) and the colour temperature. The authors try to verify the following hypothesis: (1) the colour temperature obtained from the fitting of the black-body spectrum to the counts of photons in different energy channels is equal to the effective temperature; (2) the radiating area after burst maximum is constant.
