On a possibility of taking into account the refraction of electromagnetic radiation in the atmospheres of close binary stars.
Abstract
A procedure for calculating the optical properties of stellar atmospheres is described for the model of a partially ionized homogeneous isotropic relativistic plasma with allowance for particle collisions. The frequency of the incident electromagnetic wave and the characteristics of the atmospheric layer are taken into account. It is shown that the refraction effect in the atmosphere may generate additional radiation throughout the total eclipse observed in 12 close binary systems.
