Spectrophotometric investigations of the eclipsing variable system RY Sct.
Abstract
The paper presents results of spectroscopic observations of RY Sct performed with the UAGS spectrograph (44 A/mm dispersion) at the 2-m telescope of the Shemakhinskaia Astrophysical Observatory during July-August 1981. The radial velocities of different components of the hydrogen, helium, and silicon lines were obtained, and the mass function of the system was calculated on the basis of the Si IV absorption lines (4088 and 4116 A). A very strong SiF absorption band 40 A wide was observed along with a red shift of the Balmer jump. The distance to RY Sct was calculated on the basis of the equivalent width of the K Ca II interstellar line.
