Vertical Structure of the Latitude Cloud Bands of Jupiter
Abstract
The vertical structure of the clouds in the Equatorial Region, the North Equatorial Belt, and the North Tropical Zone of Jupiter are studied from data on the intensity of the methane absorption bands in the interval 0.54-0.90 microns. It is shown that the clouds evidently have a three-level structure. The first two levels are separated by an almost clear gaseous interval, while the lower two levels practically overlap. The parameters of these levels are determined.
