A simulation study of space diversity and adaptive equalization in microwave digital radio
Abstract
The space diversity and adaptive equalization of an M-level quadrature amplitude modulation (M-QAM) digital radio system are simulated numerically using the Monte Carlo method. The dual-channel fading response of the system was studied in the presence of microwave multipath fading. For each response pair generated, a receiver detection measure is derived analytically on the basis of the system parameters, and probability distributions are computed for detection measures of some different space-diversity schemes. On the basis of the numerical results, an appropriate space diversity scheme for the M-QAM digital radio system is proposed.
