Instability characteristics of the asymptotic suction profile
Abstract
Detailed stability characteristics of the asymptotic suction profile have been computed and are presented. The solution technique involved expansion of the terms in the differential equation in Chebyshev polynomials along with the use of a transformation of the semiinfinite interval into a bounded interval. The results are accurate even though the critical Reynolds number is over 50,000.
