Globular clusters in galaxies beyond the local group. VI. The spiral galaxy NGC 2683.
Abstract
Star counts around the nearby spiral galaxy NGC 2683 show it to have a globular cluster system at least as populous as the cluster system in our galaxy. The authors detect 100±31 globular clusters, and estimate that the total cluster population is ≈ 321±108. The specific frequency relative to the total galaxy light in S ≈ 2.2±0.8, and relative to the spheroid luminosity is S (spheroid) ≈ 9±3.
