The reduction of pressure drop across a vortex chamber
Abstract
Attention is given to methods for the reduction of the static pressure drop across vortex chambers having small contraction ratios. The reverse flow near the axis of rotation was minimized through the introduction of a conical plug, thereby yielding a modest static pressure drop reduction across the chamber. It is noted that a considerable pressure drop reduction is made possible by a combination of a conical diffuser and a plug.
