X-ray emission from PKS 2155-304
Abstract
Satellite TENMA observed the X-ray emission from the active galactic nuclei of the BL Lac object PKS 2155-304. The net X-ray intensity from 2 to 6 keV was obtained in each orbit. The light curve on 1 and 3 October is shown. The average intensity from 2 to 10 keV in each day is 8.6 and 8.8 times 10 to the minus 11th power erg/sec sqcm, comparable to the intensity in 1978 by HEAO-1 but 3 times larger than in 1979 by HEAO-2. An intensity variation by a factor of 2 in 4hr is seen on 1 October. Each energy spectrum can be simulated by a power law spectrum with a fixed value of NH = 2 times 10 to the 20th power H/sqcm. The photon indices and the intensities on 1 and 3 October are not appreciably different from one another. The deconvolved spectrum of whole data is shown.
