Digital processing of signals: Theory and practice
Abstract
Aspects of signal digitizing are discussed, taking into account Fourier analysis, distributions, some commonly studied signals, the norms of a function, sampling, frequency sampling, the sampling theorem, sampling of sinusoidal and random signals, quantization, the coding dynamic range, nonlinear coding with the 13 segment A-law, optimal coding, and binary representations. Other topics considered are related to the discrete Fourier transform, the unified representation of fast Fourier transform and other fast algorithms, time-invariant discrete linear systems, finite impulse response (FIR) filters, infinite impulse response (IIR) filter sections, infinite impulse response filters, complex signals and minimum phase filters, multirate filtering, adaptive filtering, circuits and factors of complexity, and applications in telecommunications. Attention is given to the advantages and limitations of digital techniques, frequency detection, multifrequency receivers, and frequency division multiplexing.
