The 140 GHz gyrotron development program
Abstract
The objective of this program is to develop a gyrotron oscillator capable of producing 100 kW of CW power at 140 GHz. Most aspects of the conceptual design for the first experimental tube are reported and initial calculations for several critical elements of the second experimental tube are discussed. The specification for the superconducting gyrotron magnet is presented. The various microwave components, protective devices, and special diagnostics required to test the tubes are identified and their design summarized.
