Transient conduction in a cylinder bounded by an infinite conductive medium with contact resistance
Abstract
Analytical solutions are given for two problems of unsteady heat conduction: conductive cooling of a cylinder, and a cylinder with a uniform heat source. In both cases the cylinder is cooled by an infinite conductive medium with contact resistance at the interface. The solutions are obtained by Laplace transform and the results are expressed in integral form. An efficient numerical scheme for evaluating the integrals is discussed, and numerical results are given in nondimensional form for a range of values of the pertinent parameters.
